Taste is subjective. Grading art, isn't. This is how I do it.
1. Art projects (usually 50 points each)- 70% of total grade Each project is graded on the following criteria:
o Originality/creativity (10 Points) How much outside help did you get? Did you do the bare minimum to meet the requirements, or did you own the idea and make the finished product uniquely your own? o Direction following (10 Points) Did you follow all of the directions given? o Aesthetic Value (10 Points) Did you follow the Rules of Composition? Is your piece successful as a work of art? o Craftsmanship (10 Points) How much time did you spend on each piece? How much effort did you put into it? o Self Reflection sheet (10 Points) Did you evaluate your own work?
2. Participation (5 points daily)-10 % of total grade o You need to be working in class and will be given 5 points a day for your active participation. o Self starts will be given every day. These also will be worth 5 points each.
3. Homework- 20 % of total grade
These are usually worksheets that accompany the readings.
